The Leafy Hydroponics Event, which looks at latest trends and technologies in the fast-growing leafy hydroponics sector across Asia-Pacific, is held the afternoon before Asia Fruit Logistica on Tuesday 5 September and is co-located at AsiaWorld-Expo.

Rijk Zwaan is bringing together customers and partners in the leafy hydroponics business from across Asia-Pacific for an afternoon of insights, discussion and networking.

The event focuses on three core areas, including market trends in leafy hydroponics, technological advances, and marketing and sales.

Rijk Zwaan hosts the first segment on market trends. Marketing and leafy green specialist Bauke van Lenteren kicks off with an overview of the global landscape in leafy greens, convenience market developments and Rijk Zwaan’s solutions. Friso Klok, area sales and chain manager for South East Asia, then looks at hydroponic market developments in the region and profiles Rijk Zwaan’s leafy product assortment.

Turning the focus to technological developments, a panel of leading horticulture tech suppliers discusses the solutions they’re marketing in Asia for leafy production. Speakers include Manuel Madani of Priva; Rani Bassil of Klassman-Deillmann; Kurt Cornelissen of Hortiplan; and Craig D’Souza of Philips LED Horticulture Solution. The panel looks at best practices and explores learnings from new projects.

Bassil, Klassman-Deillmann’s sales manager for Middle East and Central Asia, showcases some of the company’s latest innovations for the hydroponic segment, including the Nygaia plug (recently launched at GreenTech) and the Advanced Growbag (a woodfibre-based growbag).

The final part of the event focuses on marketing and sales. Major grower-marketers from across Asia discuss how they operate in their respective markets and outline the latest consumer and retail trends.

Speakers include Tracey Lam, founder of Hong Kong-based hydroponic greens supplier AquaGreen; Varija Khanna, deputy general manager of Indian company Nutrifresh; and Robin Yau, director of sales and marketing for Malaysia-based Champ Fungi, which markets a range of vegetables and salads across South-East Asia under the Live Well brand.

The panel shares how they see the convenience and processing market developing across Hong Kong, China, Thailand, India, Malaysia and Singapore. They also discuss some of the latest new product developments and launches.

Rijk Zwaan’s Leafy Hydroponics Event takes place on 5 September 2023 from 15:00-17:00 at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. Those interested in attending the seminar can email export@rijkzwaan.nl before 31 August.
